Early Life, Family, Education
Stadtmiller was born in San Diego in 1975 to Patricia and Jerry Stadtmiller, an ex-Marine and Vietnam veteran. She attended The University of San Diego High School in California. In 1997, she received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. As an undergraduate, she received several writing awards including two top rankings in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program. After graduation, she interned with The Washington Post, where she contributed to stories for the Style section and helped cover the Marv Albert trial. Other internships included The Village Voice, The Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale, Illinois Entertainer, and Mainstream, a national magazine for the disabled.
Career
From 1999-2000, Stadtmiller was the assistant director of publications and public relations for Northwestern’s Medical School. She later worked as a ghostwriter for the president of Northwestern University. In 2005 she was hired as an entertainment writer for The New York Post. She is a frequent contributor to the gossip pages of Page Six.
In August 2006, Stadtmiller was groped and bit by actor/comedian Andy Dick during an interview following his appearance on the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner. In July 2007, she started a first-person dating column for the Post, “About Last Night.” The column began with her dates and dating tips from various experts, but soon evolved into a chronicle of her relationship with a man referred to only as “Super Preppy.” The final column ran in mid-2008.[4]
In 2010, she went undercover as a client to hire the nation’s first legal male prostitute, who worked at the Shady Lady Ranch.[5] The article received notable attention from such media outlets as The Colbert Report and The Joy Behar Show.
