The Early ShowExternal links Website ¡Despierta América! (Spanish pronunciation: [desˈpjerta aˈmeɾika], Wake Up America!) is a popular Spanish language morning show which has aired on the Univision television network since 1997. It is broadcast from the network's studios in Miami, Florida, and is hosted by Chiquinquirá Delgado, Poncho de Anda, Raúl González, and Karla Martínez. Satcha Pretto and Félix de Bedout provide regular national and world news updates during the show. Ana Patricia González provides frequent entertainment news updates. Other reporters or celebrities also provide entertainment and gossip segments, and will occasionally appear as guest hosts if one of the regular hosts is unavailable (for instance, actress Angélica Vale has appeared frequently during the show's run).

Despierta América is known for coining the catch phrase, "échate pa' acá" ("Come here"), which is a segment regarding news and gossip about Latin entertainers.
While initially Jackie Guerrido provided nationwide weather updates during each episode, after she left the show full-time often one or another of the hosts would do the segments (most notably Raúl, who would do various reggaeton-styled musical updates for some time). Currently Paola Elorza does these updates.
With the departure of Neida Sandoval from the show in June 2011, none of the original hosts of ¡Despierta América! from its inception are currently attached to it.[1] Fernando Arau left the show on March 2, 2009, and celebrated his farewell on-air with a mariachi band; Ana Maria Canseco was released from the show in 2010, and last appeared on October 2 of that year. Giselle Blondet and acclaimed news correspondent Ruben Carrillo left in 2005 to pursue other projects, and Rafael Jose left the show full-time in 2000 but would return often as a guest host for several years. Ana Maria was also well known for hosting the "échate pa' acá" segments, and also was a frequent guest hostess of El Gordo y La Flaca.[2]
