Neida Sandoval (born March 20, 1961 in Minas de Oro, Comayagua, Honduras) is a journalist and television news anchor.

She enjoys horseriding, having grown up in her native Honduras. She is married to an American David Cochran. She has twins; a girl and a boy, Aline Aída and Abener David, and currently lives in Miami.

Career

In 1980 Neida Sandoval started in Honduras as a TV anchor, she is well known because of the Sunday TV program: Proyecciones Militares (Military Projections).

In 1987, she married an American citizen and moved to the United States. She joined KLUZ Channel 41 (an affiliate of Univision) in Alburquerque, New Mexico as reporter and news anchor in 1988. Sandoval later worked for KWEZ Channel 41, a Univision affiliate in San Antonio, Texas, again as a reporter and news anchor.

In 1992 she was hired as a correspondent for Univision News and Noticias y Más (News and more) (later known as Primer Impacto - First Impact). Sandoval has reported on stories such as the Oklahoma City bombing, the Waco standoff, the death of singer Selena, and the 1993 floods in Iowa and Missouri. During her two-year tenure with Noticias y Más, she was nominated for an Emmy award for her contribution to a two-part series on the Catholic Church.

She joined Univision's morning show as a news acnhor, Despierta America, on April 14, 1997.

Sandoval is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).

She won two Emmy awards in 1998 after reporting on the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch in her native Honduras and the rest of Central America.

She is considered one of the 100 most influential Hispanic journalists in the United States.

In 2003 she received a special award from the Honduran National Congress.[1]

Neida calls her husband: "My 007 agent", because he always protects her, wherever she goes [2].

Neida Sandoval was a perennial special invitee to Honduras Telethon.

Sandoval was dismissed from Despierta America on June, 15, 2011.
