Vancouver Island North is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the Canadian House of Commons since 1997.

Geography

The district includes the Regional Districts of Comox Valley, Strathcona, Mount Waddington and the southern half of Central Coast excluding Calvert Island and Hunter Island. These regional districts include the towns of Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Port Alice, Port McNeill, Port Hardy, Alert Bay, Quadra Island, Denman Island and Hornby Island.

History

The electoral district was created in 1996 from Comox—Alberni and North Island—Powell River ridings.

This riding has elected the following Members of Parliament:

* 1997-2006: John Duncan - Reform (1997-2000), Canadian Alliance (2000-2003), Conservative (2003-2006) - He previously represented North Island—Powell River.
*2006-present:Catherine Bell - New Democratic Party

Current Member of Parliament

Its Member of Parliament is Catherine Bell, the first woman to be elected in this riding.
