Revolutionary Armed Forces of the Sahara (FARS) is a toubou militant group in Niger, presumably of separatist intentions, who kidnapped two Italian tourists in August 2006 [cite web|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/5288048.stm|title='Rebels' hold Italians in Niger |publisher=BBC|date=2006-08-25|accessdate=2008-07-14] . Boubakar Mohamed Sogoma, ethnically toubou, is a commander of FARS in 2008 [cite web|url=http://english.aljazeera.net/focus/unrestsahara/2008/07/2008710121834923863.html|title=Niger's nomads fight for rights|author=Alex Sehmer and May Welsh|publisher=Al Jazeera|date=2008-07-14|accessdate=2008-07-14] .
