Virbalis (pronunciation|Virbalis.ogg) is a city in the Vilkaviškis district municipality, Lithuania. It is located convert|12|km|mi|abbr=on west of Vilkaviškis.

Under the ancient German name "Wirballen" it is a very often mentioned placename in historical as well in modern literature, because it was the first station for stagecoaches and later railway station in the Russian Empire leaving Germany. The once German station of the Prussian Eastern Railway on the other side of the frontier was "Eydtkuhnen", today Chernyshevskoye.
