History
As CTV-31
On October 31, 1992, Radio Mindanao Network became the second radio-based network to launch a TV station called CTV-31. It is also the first UHF station to be inspired by the format of a cable movie channel. But recently CTV-31 acquired and aired E! in mid-1997. Because of that matter, in year 2000, CTV-31 stopped broadcasting.
As E! 31 Philippines and ceased transmission
In mid-1997 right after CTV-31 leased the airtime block, it acquired rights to broadcast shows from the E! channel, a U.S. cable TV channel. On September 2000, CTV changed its name to E! Philippines. However on June 1, 2003, RMN had to ceased their operations of its TV arm citing financial constraints and poor television ratings. There were several religious groups who wish to acquire block programming of CTV but RMN refused to accept their offers. Some programs of E! was broadcasted to QTV Channel 11 via E! on Q (now known as GMA News TV), ETC and Velvet.
As BEAM Channel 31/The Game Channel 31
However, after its 8 years of ceased broadcasting, on July 3, 2011, UHF 31 returned as a test broadcast, which airs 24 hours a day.[2] The station was occupied by Globe Telecom, as the partner of Betlehem Holdings, Inc. via Altimax Broadcasting Co. Inc., retaining Radio Mindanao Network as its owner [3]. RMN together with the joint venture of Solar Entertainment Corporation signed a blocktime agreement to use the CTV-31 facilities[citation needed]. The network was branded on July 13 as BEAM Channel 31. And on August 15, it started its broadcast carrying The Game Channel (which is the new all US game show channel, owned by Solar Entertainment Corporation).[4]. This network also plans to apply for the digital broadcast as the part of Globe Telecom and Radio Mindanao Network acqusition of this channel.[5]
