Before the year 1900, there was a battalion of then princely state of
Bikaner to protect the north eastern boundary at the place of present Sangariya town, which was known as ‘sangar’, which gave name to this town. In 1901-02 the Bikaner state railway line was extended fromHanumangarh toBhatinda . At that time there was no population at this place so this railway station was called ‘Chautala Road’ in the name of villageChautala situated in Punjab (nowHaryana ) situated at a distance of 6 km from here. From that time onward there started inhabitation of people. Seth Pragchand Sarda,Seth Ramkishan Das Karnani , Seth Narayandas Modi,Seth Gopalchand Bihani,Seth Chatrabhuj Mundewala,Seth Sitaram Sahuwala,Gopi Ram Goyal were the early inhabitants,now has developed into the Sangariya town. State Government sanctioned an agricultural mandi here during early twentieth century. The area was barren and there was no availability of drinking water. The water was transported by railways from Hanumangarh town and then supplied to each house.Ancient history reveals that this area was a part of nearly 5000 years old

Jambheshwarji was born in 1451(or1452)at pipasar in nagaur mandal of jodhpur state. His father,lohat,was a panwar Rajput. His mother was Mansa Devi. He was the only son of his parents. As a child he was khnow as a contemplative boy. People felt surprised to listen to his profound talks. When he was seven years old,he was made to graze the family cows. After the death of his parents, he left home. He spent most of his time in the company of saints. He adopted Goraksha Nath as his Guru. Through meditation and inner devotion to god, he attained self-realisation.
2.Jambheshwarji Maharaj was aware of the problem of his age. He saw communal fanaticism and moral degradation around him. He took it upon himself to rid the Hindu society of superstition and other evils. He preached the necessity of social amity.He also advocated a life of altruism and love for others.
3. Jambheshwarji founded the vishnoi sect in 1485.HE laid down twenty nine religious commandments for his followers.Like a great prophet he realised the importance of vegetation.
4. He also told people not to fall in the trap of common social evils like theft,roberry,adultery and drinking.He emphasized the importance of both inner and outer purity of life.He also preached the importance of truth and honesty in day to day life. Sangaria museum
Sir Chhotu Ram memorial museum is situated at Sangaria, 25 km. from district headquarter.The clay, stone and metal statues, old coins etc collected from different parts of the country have been exhibited at this museum.A statue of PARVATI of year 600-900, a statue of "Tirthankar Shantinath" of 15th century, a "TORAN" of 17th century and a "KAMANDAL" of 5.5' height draw special attention of the visitors.
Geography and climate
Sangaria, situated at 29° 5' to 30° 6' North and 74° 3' to 75º 3' east, shares its boundaries with Haryana state in the east, Sriganganagar district in the west, Punjab state in the North and Churu district in the South. The geographical area of the district is 9656.09 km². The climate of the district is semi-dry, extremely hot during the summer and extremely cold during winter. The maximum average temperature remains 18° to 48° and minimum average is 0 to 28° celsius. The average rainfall during the year is 225 to 300 mm.
Education Hub
Sangaria is the education hub of northern Rajasthan. It has 7 colleges. Total students studying in Sangaria as on 7 September 1994 were 6487. Sangaria has 43 RSEB affiliated schools. Mostly the education is Hindi but it has gathered momentum in English medium schools too. Meera Girls College one of the first only girls institute of Bikaner Division set up in the late 1980s by Seth Dharam Chand Jain . Gramotthan Vidyapeeth, Sangaria is famous one. On 9 August 1917 a retired subedar
Chaudhary Bahadur Singh Bhobia of villageBidangkhera started ‘Jat Anglo Indian School’ with the purpose of spreading education in rural areas.Swami Keshwanand was made director of Jat School Sangaria in 1932 when the school was just to close for want of funds. He went from village to village and to the Seths of desert region who were in Calcutta and far off places and collected funds. He became instrumental in starting hundreds of schools in the desert region. The Jat School Sangaria was renamed as Gramothan Vidyapith, Sangaria in 1948.Swami Keshwanand remained connected with the Gramothan Vidyapith, Sangaria (Rajasthan) (1932-1952). He developed here a beautiful museum with collection of rare documents, ancient items, paintings etc. brought from various places. Large-scaleplantation s were done in this arid area with the help of people and students of the Institute. Gramothan Vidyapith, Sangaria had become center of inspiration for educationists from India and abroad.References
