Andy WhiteLiam Ó Maonlaí ALT was a one-off band featuring former
New Zealand bandSplit Enz frontmanTim Finn , Northern Irish singer/songwriter Andy White & the frontman of the Irish bandHothouse Flowers ,Liam Ó Maonlaí , that recorded and played together in 1995.The band's name was created out of the letters of their first names. They released two albums. The first was the studio album "Altitude", was recorded in Periscope Studios in
Melbourne ,Australia . It has 13 tracks, and it includes references and influences to the musical and cultural traditions in which the participants grew up. The second is "Bootleg", a live recording from The Continental inSydney ,Australia . Both albums were recorded and released in1995 .The overall production on "Altitude" was very raw and informal, with laughter, count-ins and mid-song instructions left on the final product.
They toured briefly around Europe after the album was released.
In 2004 Liam joined Tim on stage in
Dublin during aFinn Brothers concert and they performed one of the ALT songs. The three have worked together on each others' solo projects from time to time, and the event of them reforming for another album has never been ruled out.
