- So It Goes (TV series)
"So It Goes" was a British TV music show presented by the late
Tony Wilson onGranada Television between 1976 and 1977. It is most famous for showcasing the then burgeoningPunk rock movement. It gave
The Sex Pistols their first ever TV appearance, as well as showcasing exclusive performances byPatti Smith ,The Jam ,The Clash ,The Stranglers andSiouxsie and The Banshees .Despite this, it also included occasional non-punk guests such as journalist
Clive James , and comedianPeter Cook hosting a 'Riff of The Month' competition. However, it was an expletive strewn appearance by
Iggy Pop that Granada bosses found too much, leading to the cancellation of a third series. It was named partially in reference to
Kurt Vonnegut 's novel "Slaughterhouse-Five ".Episode guide
The first series consisted of nine editions that ran from the 3rd July - 21st of August 1976. This was followed almost a year later by the second series, consisting of ten editions running from 9th of October - 11th of December 1977. [http://www.itnsource.com/ 1]

In the movie
24 Hour Party People , the set of "So It Goes" was recreated, withSteve Coogan playing the part of Tony Wilson. Some Wilson links in the film are not historically accurate though. For example, Coogan as Wilson introduces The Sex Pistols singingAnarchy in the UK by saying it is "two minutes of the most important music sinceElvis walked into TheSun Studios ". In fact, Wilson's introduction to them on the actual show was that they were "the most reviled phenomena of recent weeks".References
