Hygrophorus subgen. Pseudohygrophorus A.H.Sm. & HeslerCamarophyllus is a genus of mushrooms in the Hygrophoraceae. Members of Camarophyllus are distinguished from other members of the Hygrophoraceae by their white to pale orange to violaceous coloration and fully decurrent gills of their fruit bodies and by their interwoven lamellar trama.

Taxonomy and nomenclature
Elias Magnus Fries recognized it as Hygrophorus tribus Camarophyllus in 1838 and Kummer (1871) raised it to generic status. (Hesler and Smith, 1963)
This genus is recognized by some modern authorities and not by others. Hesler and Smith (1963) and Largent (1985) consigned it to sectional rank, Hygrophorus section Camarophyllus, though Largent (1988) later recognized its generic status. Boertmann (1996) treats these species as part of Hygrocybe. Bon (1984) referred to this group as Cuphophyllus, however, this name is regarded as a synonym of Camarophyllus, with the latter name taking priority. Molecular phylogenetics supports the genus as an autonomous monophyletic group.[2]
