Bridgeland Community, Texas

Bridgeland Community is a 11,401-acre master-planned community under construction in unincorporated Harris County, Texas to the northwest of Houston between U.S. Highway 290 and Interstate 10. Bridgeland is being developed by General Growth Properties, whose previous work includes The Woodlands, Texas, Columbia, Maryland, and Summerlin, Nevada.

Bridgeland is planned to house over 70,000 people by completion. [cite news

Education

The area of Bridgeland is served by the Cypress Fairbanks, Katy, and Waller school districts.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD

As of 2007 no homes in Bridgeland are zoned to Katy ISD schools.

Waller I.S.D.

As of 2007 no homes in Bridgeland are zoned to zoned to Waller I.S.D. schools; a portion of Waller I.S.D. lies within the Bridgeland development.

Villages

Lakeland Village

Lakeland Village is the first of four "villages" to be built in Bridgeland. The village consists of the following communities and areas:

*The Shores: The Shores is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway near the entrance to Bridgeland off Fry Road. The Shores is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland. The first residents of The Shores arrived in June 2006. At its completion it will have 571 homes. The community is located across the street from Oak Meadow Park and Cypress Creek Trail. House Hahl Trail also runs through the neighborhood.

*First Bend: First Bend is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway near the entrance to Bridgeland off Fry Road. First Bend is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland. The first residents of First Bend arrived in 2007. At its completion it will have 406 homes. The community contains Turtle Lane and Butterfly Garden, a nature trail and small park.

*The Cove: The Cove is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway, west of The Shores. It will be home to a Cy-Fair ISD elementary school. [cite news

*Lakeland Heights: Lakeland Heights will be located on Fry Road just south of the main entrance of Bridgeland. The first residents are expected to arrive in late 2008. This community is planned to be a Traditional Development Neighborhood.

Future, Planned Villages

Parkland Village, Prairieland Village, and Creekland Village are the other of the four villages to be developed in the future.

Also, Bridgeland Town Center will be constructed along the future Grand Parkway. The Town Center will be located in the geograpic center of Bridgeland.
