Bay Street is a New Jersey Transit station on Bay St. between Bloomfield & Glen Ridge Aves. in Montclair, New Jersey along the Montclair-Boonton Line. Depending on which way you take the train, it is either the first or last stop in the township of Montclair. The station was built in 1981 to replace Montclair's 1912 Lackawanna Terminal two blocks to the West, which was closed that year and converted into a small shopping center. Originally a bare platform with only one track and small shelter, Bay Street was rebuilt with a bridge across the tracks, a parking deck, and with mosaics and tilework along with the construction of the Montclair Connection north of it. In the vicinity of the station is the Main Montclair Fire Department offices and Fire Station, former Lackawanna Station, the Pine street historical area, and Glenfield Middle School. Bay street was the western terminus of the Montclair Branch before the connection. All outbound trains and all but one inbound train call at this station. The township of Montclair operates a jitney on weekday evenings from this station to the southern end of that town.There are from here:
