Titlagarh (also known as Titilagarh) is a town and a notified area committee in Balangir district in the Indian state of Orissa.

Geography

Titlagarh is located at coord|20.3|N|83.15|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/21/Titlagarh.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Titlagarh] ] . It has an average elevation of 215 metres (705 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Titlagarh had a population of 27,756. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Titlagarh has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 57%. In Titlagarh, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Politics

Current MLA from Titilagarh (SC) Assembly Constituency is Jogendra Behera of BJD, who won the seat in State elections in 2004 and also in 2000, and representing JD in 1995 and in 1990. Other previous MLAs from this seat were Purna Chandra Mahananda of INC in 1985, and Lalit Mohan Gandhi representing INC(I) in 1980 and representing INC in 1877. [cite web
