Lahar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Bhind district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Geography

Lahar is located at coord|24.9|N|79.02|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/35/Lahar.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Lahar] ] . It has an average elevation of 275 metres (902 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Lahar had a population of 59,305. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Lahar has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 50%. In Lahar, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.The most important occupations of the peoples here is agriculture. Mustard, wheat, gram, peas are the important crops grown here.

Lahar has place in history. In mahabharat time when pandav's got banvas then they spent most of time here and there was lachchhagrah where kaurav's tried to kill pandavs.when laksha grah was burning than pandav made a gupha that pass from lahar to Bhikhampura(i.e village 1.5 KM from lahar )thats name inherit from Bhism one of Pandav name ,he came to village and ask for water but the sortage of water the villegers gave him milk in place of water than he told that in future this village is know for milk Productivity.that the real fact from the past of history i will hurt that from Granfather .
