Jaleswar is a small town falls under the state of Orissa. It belongs to Balsore district of state Orissa and is adjacent to border of West Bengal. 'Jaleswar' town is a notified area committee. And also Jaleswar block (consists of 142 villages and jaleswar town (NAC)) forms a state constituecy along with Balipal Block.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Jaleswar block had a population of 1,31,867. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Jaleswar has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 57%. In Jaleswar, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

One major town in the Balasore district. Jaleswar has four major areas Bada Bazar, Nua Bazar, Station Bazar and Purunia Bazar. Jaleswar is near the West Bengal border (About 8 KM). Most of the vegetable vendors from Kharagpur and other parts of West Bengal come to the Monday Market (at Patharapura Village, behind the Jaleswar Police station) to purchase vegetables at wholesale prices.Fact|date=October 2007 From Jaleswar, Digha Beach in West Bengal is 38 km. Chandaneswar Shiva temple is situated in Chandanswar which is 27 km from Jaleswar. Talsari Beach is 5 km from Chandaneswar. Lakhannath Gara is 5 km from Jaleswar. Subarnarekha River flows near Jaleswar. Major festivals are Durga Puja, Basanti Puja, and Ratha Yatra. Jaleswar is connected to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and Bhubaneswar (the capital city of Orissa) by railway and bus service. Important connectivity: National highway and East coast railway. Some educational Institutions include Town High School, Jaleswar High School, Dina Krusna College, Saint James' Convent School, Gopobandhu Siksha Sadana, and Jagannath Women's College.
