Degloor is a city and a municipal council in Nanded district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is popularly known as Degloor in the local area, the name Deglur or Diglur is shown only in maps and not in any other official documents.
It is framed between Udgir (Bidar road) and Hyderabad road national highway, and bound on its side by Pataalganga and Lendi rivers. Degloor also called as Degger Urdu or Diglur or Degloor was a very well known market place of ancient years known for its cloth market jewellery agricultural produce in Nizam's ruling years. Geographically Degloor consists of different villages, like Khanapur, Taakli, Degao etc. Degloor city per se is divided into 3 parts:
- Old Degloor or gaon,
- Degloor town or current Degloor, and
- New Degloor.
Degloor Gaon or old Degloor that is the area that was guarded by the Veshicha Maruti in olden days, (it is now a central place). In olden days, the Degloor Gaon or town was lined by Veshicha maruti, pocham bes, gollewaar galli, udgir road and nanded hydrabad highway. The population that grew beyond veshicha maruti in 1900, was the outcasted people in those days who preferred to stay on outskirts of gaon. So all bara balutedaars excepts rich jamindaars and seths were outside the degloor gaon. This area beyond degloor gaon is the current central township of degloor, which has all its schools, post office, and other government offices. for almost 30 years after independence, there was no area called new degloor, which developed on the outskirts, on the south and eastern aspects of udgir road and the national highway. First thing was the MSEB 32 KV station and then the degloor college degloor Adat Vyapari Education Society . Then followed the various newer colonies that became the integral part of degloor. during the same years, Zillha Parishad school, Maanvya vikas school and Arya Samaj also developed by Poshattidada Ungratwar long with two cinema halls mainly Venkatesh talkies and later dinshaw talkies (that is now almost collapsed state) and then the Pirozdin talkies.
Mondha and agricultural produce market comitteee (APMC) or krishi utpanna bajaar samiti developed as a part of major projects of the nagar parishad degloor, the collectors office and the degloor tahsil.
Degloor court, police station and the jail are of the same era. Also the oldesr bus stand later replaced by old post office, gandhi chowk, the old bus stand. all seem to be developed in same decade. New bus stand was developed only in last decade. there is also a shivaji park garden Over last 20 years degloor has seen its advancement from kaularu or tubetop roof row houses to cement concrete RCC, multistory buildings in most areas. The major lanes are Sarafa lane, Market lane, cloth market, mondha market, pethamrapur galli, line galli, doctor lane, chamar galli, pocham bes, macchi market, deshpande galli, rokdya maruti, doordarshan area, shahaji nagar, AVES staff/lecturers colony, saadhana nagar, datta nagar, Gumbad base, Khwaja Baba nagar, and many more. Last thing to tell about degloor is that it had produced many laurels over the last century. They are from poshatti dada ungratwar, Narayan chidrawar to Martand patil, Dr Venkatesh kabde,dr karmveer ungratwar. Dr Santosh Kondekar, the famous online pediatrician from KEM Hospital Mumbai,Jagdish alias Venkatesh Manoharrao Deshmukh a well known Tabla player is also from same city.and famous freedom fighter, politician and advocate Mohammed Sharful Haq.
