Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Chitgoppa had a population of 24,232. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chitgoppa has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 67% and female literacy of 53%. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
The Cynosure of chitgoppa is the Gavi called Santa Madivaleshwara Gavi, which is carved in single hill. That is the place where the Santa Madilwaleshwara sat for Tapas for many Years.
There is a more than 500 years old Banyan tree near Basawanna temple at the heart of the City. The Dasara Festival is celebrated in an awesome way, the day when All the people in chitgoppa go to Bhavani temple together and great each other with "Banni" (Bangara).
And Mahadeva temple is another oldest temple in the city.

Totayya sweet house (Raghavendra sweet house ) led by Vastrad family was one of the most famous sweet mart in chitgoppa and was there for more than 100 years and mostly known for the sweet "Barfi". The sweet mart no more exist in chitgoppa.
