Areraj is a city and a notified area in East Champaran district in the state of Bihar, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Areraj had a population of 20,245. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Areraj has an average literacy rate of 45%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 64% of the males and 36% of females literate. 20% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Areraj is a beautiful place to visit when you are coming to East Champaran. It has a very old shiv temple. Near to Shiv temple there is a river called TELIE. There is a beautiful place to visit is LAURIA. Lauria is having an Ashoka Pillar.

This Place is only 2km west to Areraj. The Ashoka Pillar is also called Laur Baba. There is also a famous Math in this village.

Education

Arera is the educational hub in the East Champaran.

One can find a middle school,a high school,Sanskrit college and degree college with a Saraswati temple in the same campus. A famous play ground is available which is the centre of all these educational institution.

There are a dozen of private educational institutes in this small town. One of them is Rashtra Bharti Avasiya Vidyalay which was started on 2nd October 1986.
