Adityapur is an industrial town separated from the famous city Jamshedpur by Kharkai river. It lies in Seraikela Kharsawan district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Adityapur had a population of 119,221. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Adityapur has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Geography

Kharkai river surrounds Adityapur from three sides (except west), and is connected with the well known Cosmopolitan City of Jamshedpur (famous for Tata Steel) through a small bridge over river of Kharkai (east of Adityapur).

Transport

Adityapur has got its own Railway Station (small), Radio Station (called All India Radio, Jamshedpur, 1584 kHz and Vividh Bharti FM at 100.8 MHz).

Economy

Adityapur is one of the largest Industrial Areas in India, and one Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is very soon coming up.

Education

There is a Government Polytechnic College, Indo Danish Tool Room and Training Centre for preparing technical hands.

Problems

Adityapur is rapidly growing in the field of Housing in addition to industrial sector. Areas that need immediate attention are infrastructure (one additional bridge over Kharkai river, healthy availability of Electricity both of Industrial and Residential usages), facilities of drinking water and sanitation, medical facilities and avenues for entertainment.
