Seamus Donnelly

Séamus Donnelly (Irish: "Séamas Ó Donnghaile") [Surnames in Ireland, Seán E. Quinn, Irish Genealogy Press, Dublin, 2000, ISBN 1 871509 39 4, pg. 78] was a Provisional Irish Republican Army volunteer from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Background

Donnelly was the fourth eldest child in a family of eight and was born and raised in the small village of Aughnaskea, Gallbally, a rural area of east County Tyrone. Here he grew up with fellow member of the East Tyrone Brigade Declan Arthurs and Tony Gormley in the small village of Galbally. He attended St. Joseph's in Galbally and later St. Patrick's in Dungannon.

Paramilitary

At 19 years old he was the youngest of eight IRA members and a civilian to be killed in a Special Air Service ambush on 8 May 1987 at Loughgall, County Armagh.
