The Council for Scottish Archaeology (CSA) is the leading archaeological non-dependent public body in Scotland, providing a variety of information regarding archaeology in Scotland, including how to get involved, what excavations are happening and what archaeology you have in your area. The CSA is a charitable organisation which is dependent on the subscriptions and donations of our supporters.
The CSA co-ordinates a number of initiatives including the notable "Scottish Archaeology Month", an event unique in Europe to Scotland, which takes place every September as part of European Heritage Days. Hundreds of free archaeological and heritage themed events take place all over Scotland, allowing people to see artefacts and sites, frequently unseen. The CSA also organises a biannual archaeological fair (which took place in Strathpeffer in May 2007), as well as the annual Archaeological Research in Progress Conference.
