Central National-Gottesman, Inc. is one of the world's largest distributors of pulp, paper, paperboard, and newsprint. The firm's products are sold in over 75 countries, through a network of 43 offices located in the United States and abroad.

With annual revenues exceeding $3 billion, Forbes ranked Central National-Gottesman 143rd in its annual list of "The Largest Private Companies". Founded in New York City in 1886 as M. Gottesman & Company, the grew substantially under D.S. Gottesman, in the first half of the twentieth century.

Growing both organically, and through acquisition, in 1984 they acquired Lindenmeyr Paper Corporation; in 1988 D.F. Munroe Company; in 1991 Communication Paper Corporation; and, in 1998 Perkins & Squier Company.

The company was helmed by Ira D. Wallach into the late 20th century. His son, James G. Wallach was CEO until his death in 1998. Today, the firm is run by fourth-generation Gottesman family members, with fifth generation beginning to enter the firm.
