The airport is jointly owned by the city of The Dalles and Klickitat County.[1] It is adjacent to the Columbia River, near the east end of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.[2]

History
During the Great Depression, the city was granted $12,000 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), but that was later revoked in 1935 when the WPA learned the city only leased the airport.[3]
Facilities and aircraft
Columbia Gorge Regional Airport covers an area of 997 acres (403 ha) which contains two asphalt paved runways: 7/25 measuring 4,647 x 100 ft (1,416 x 30 m) and 12/30 measuring 5,097 x 100 ft (1,554 x 30 m).[1]
For the 12-month period ending July 10, 2007, the airport had 16,282 aircraft operations, an average of 44 per day: 84% general aviation, 11% air taxi and 5% military. At that time there were 57 aircraft based at this airport: 88% single-engine, 5% multi-engine, 4% jet and 4% helicopter.[1]
