- Miami-Hollywood Motorsports Park
-
The Miami-Hollywood Motorsports Park was built in 1966. It was east of the Hollywood Sportatorium on the corner of 172nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard (now Pines Boulevard) in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The speedway went through many various name changes over its long history, including Miami Speedway, Miami Dragway, Miami-Hollywood Speedway, and others. However, it was home to many famous races and was a nationally recognized National Hot Rod Association racetrack. It featured a quarter mile drag strip where one could race all types of modified cars or traditional racing cars. The dragstrip went from the SW to the NE. It closed in 1992 due to western expansion of new homes. A part of the subdivision of Pembroke Isles now occupies the site of the drag strip, while the subdivision's wetland buffer site bordering Pines Boulevard now occupies the site of the racetrack itself. These wetlands were the resting point of numerous race cars that went off the end of the track, to the chagrin of many racers, and the delight of many a grandstand dweller.
