In downtown Atlanta, I-85 joins with Interstate 75 as theDowntown Connector . I-85 in Georgia follows the general corridor of U.S. Route 29. However, from Atlanta northeast to theSouth Carolina state line, it strays from this route, running about halfway between US 29 and the U.S. Route 23/U.S. Route 123 corridor.
