Randwick, AustraliaHeight 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) Style Kendo Notable club(s) UNSW Michael Henstock (born 12 May 1979 in Randwick, Sydney), is a 4th Dan Australian Kendo player. He trains at UNSW KC. He has also represented NSW multiple times at the Australian National Kendo Championships winning 1st place in the Kyu Division in 2004.[1] He has taken UNSW KC to multiple victories in regional tournaments and international tournaments playing in the position of Taisho.
His steady and straight style of Kendo is an attribute often seen to come out of UNSWKC and is widely known throughout the Kendo Community.[citation needed] In 2005, he has trained in Nittaidai in Japan.
Although he was unsuccessful in his campaign to enter the Australian National Squad to compete at the World Kendo Championship to be held in Taiwan in 2006, he was successful in making the team for Brazil. The team consisted of the following players: Nicholas Bartlett, Michael Henstock, Kirby Smith (c), Ben Kelly, Stuart Burke. He was selected again to represent Australia at the 2012 World Kendo Championship, this time in Italy.
Michael Henstock is also known as Henrickle to his Kendo peers.[citation needed]
