"Pilot" (or "The Douchebag Aspect") was the first episode of "Mission Hill". It was written by Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein. It first aired on September 24, 1999.

Plot summary

24-year-old Andy French is forced to take his nerdy younger brother Kevin in with him to live at his hip Mission Hill apartment. The two brothers bicker constantly until Kevin gets Andy thrown out of a club (for failure to act "cool"). In a fit of rage, Andy angrily asks Kevin why he won't adjust to life without their parents and take advantage of his freedom. Kevin then realizes his lack of boundaries have given him the opportunity to do things he would never do otherwise. In an effort to become cool, Kevin gets drunk drinking Gruberhoff at a party Andy throws at the apartment. He quickly makes a spectacle of himself, declaring himself the "Grubermeister" (soon becoming "Googergeiger" as he becomes increasingly intoxicated).

The party goes late into the night, finally dying out at dawn. Eventually, Kevin's drunken antics tear Andy away from a romantic affair with his co-worker Gwen. Understanding, Gwen remains at the apartment until Andy is sure Kevin is okay. Weary and hung-over, Kevin decides it would be easier to remain true to his old personality rather than adopting a cooler one. Andy agrees.
