Faye White MBE (born 2 February 1978, Crawley) is an English footballer. She is currently captain of Arsenal, and the England national team. She is also a qualified sports massage therapist.

Club career

White's career started at the age of eighteen with Arsenal. In the 1996/97 season White broke into the first team as part of Arsenal's central defence, winning her first trophy that year, the FA Women's Premier League.

The 1997/98 season was a break-out year for White, winning not only the FA Women's Cup and Premier League Cup, but also being named the National Premier League Player of the Year. White's medal tally grew as Arsenal's winning ways continued, winning the FA Women's cup once more, and the League cup twice more.

However, they failed to win the Premier League title again until the 2000/01 season when the team completed its second treble, winning all three major domestic titles (Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup).

In 2002, White was named the Arsenal captain and led Arsenal to a Premier League and FA cup double in both 2003/04 and 2005/06.

White missed most of the 2006/07 season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligaments for the second time. She returned to lead the team to a fifth successive Premier League title this year as part of a third successive FA Cup & Premier League Double (2007/08). She was made an MBE for services to sport in the 2007 New Years Honours List.

International career

In 1997, aged 19, White made her England début against Scotland, followed by her full début against France in 1998 when she was named player of the match. White went on to represent her country in her first major tournament at Euro 2001 in Germany.

In 2002, she was named as England captain against Nigeria, during the qualification campaign for 2003 World Cup in USA, for which England narrowly failed to qualify, losing in a play-off over two legs versus France.

She then had the honour of captaining England at Euro 2005 in England and lead the Three Lionesses to a best ever Quarter Final slot at the 2007 World Cup in China.
