International career
Fonseca was selected as a member of the Costa Rica squad at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals. As of June 9, 2006 he had gained 21 full caps and claimed 2 goals.
He was the first player to be booked in the FIFA World Cup 2006 during his country's 4-2 defeat to Germany.
