Jane Rutter is an
Australia nflautist of international note. Her repertoire encompasses classical,jazz and pop.Training
Rutter began training on the flute at an early age.
She credits as a great early influence an occasion when aged 12 while on holiday in
Bali with her mother. As she was improvising and playing some Balinese tunes she had heard, her playing came to the attention of a local Balinese flute orchestra that sought her out. She claims this validated her playing and set her sights to being a professional flautist.Rutter studied first at the
Sydney Conservatorium of Music through itsHigh School , then was awardedscholarship s to train inLondon withJames Galway , inNew York withJulius Baker , and then was awarded a French government scholarship under which she spent three years studying inParis with two of the great flautists of the 20th century,Alain Marion andJean-Pierre Rampal .On returning to Australia she was appointed as a lecturer in flute at the Conservatorium.

Jane Rutter has been controversial in publicising her career.
* She has performed at theEdinburgh Festival (1992) where her one-woman show, "Tutti Flutti", was nominated for Fringe Award.
* In 1994 she was atelevision presenter on Australian Channel Nine TV's "Getaway " program.
* She appearednude on the cover of her first album, with her group "Posh".
* She performed in aBo Derek wig andswimsuit performing Ravel'sBoléro in acabaret show at the legendaryTillbury Hotel.
* Rutter has regularly performed withMusica Viva on tour throughout Australia.
* In 1999, she played the role ofTitania in theKarnak Playhouse production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream ", and she wrote the incidental music.

Jane Rutter has been married. Her 3 year marriage (husband: Mark) produced one child, a son (Bertie).
Motor vehicle accident
During this marriage, while travelling in a car driven by her husband, Rutter was injured during a
motor vehicle accident . The car veered to the wrong side of the road at a curve and a4WD vehicle collided with the passenger's side of the car adjacent to where Jane was sitting. She received injuries that included several brokenrib s and closed head injury.Her treatment and convalescence resulted in slight restriction in her
chest , because the ribs sets at slightly less expansion than before the accident. She has worked to overcome the physical injuries, but retains some small effects to hermemory and has experienced some depression.
