Kalamassery is a municipality in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a concentrated region of industrialisation, with several factories as well as software industry like NeST Information Technologies in the area. The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT),Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Rajagiri Schools, Cochin Medical college, St.Paul's College, Govt. Polytechnic, Govt. ITI, Najath Public School, St. Joseph's school, Udyogamandal School are located in the region.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Kalamassery had a population of 63,176. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kalamassery has an average literacy rate of 84%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 87%, and female literacy is 82%. In Kalamassery, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.Apollo Tyres and HMT are the two major factories in Kalamassery.Apart from the Cochin University, Kendriya Vidjyalaya N.A.D Aluva, St. Joseph's, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Rajagiri Schools, Government Polytechnic, Industrial Training Institute(ITI) and Food Craft Institute are the famous Educational Institutions in Kalamassery.

Pathadippalam

Pathadippalam is a place located in the municipality. Sagar Hospital and the Museum of Kerala History are located in the area.
