Jose Eduardo Barrientos Schweyer(1904-1945) was the only Cuban who participated in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Barrientos was 24 years old when he competed at the Men's 100 Meters event. He did not win medal but ranked 5h4 r2/4. He is known as "El Relampago del Caribe" (Caribbean's Thunder).
