According to theMissouri Department of Transportation , the bridge handles 95,000 vehicles a day, [ [http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/stories/2005/02/14/daily25.html] . The Paseo Bridge serves as the main connection between Kansas City and the Northland (the area of Kansas City north of the Missouri River).At the time it was built, it was the longest self connected suspension bridge ever constructed worldwide.MoDOT is planning to replace the bridge with the Christopher S. Bond Bridge. Construction of the new cable-stayed bridge is scheduled to begin in April 2008 and be completed in 2011. The Paseo Bridge will be open during the initial construction.ee also
