- Keoma, Alberta
Keoma is a designated place (an unincorporated hamlet) in southern
Alberta , in the Municipal District ofRocky View .Keoma is located approximately 42 kilometers or 26.1 miles northeast of the City of
Calgary , on Highway 566. Keoma is just east of Highway 9, north of theTrans-Canada Highway ."Keoma" is an Indian name for “over there”, far away. The hamlet was settled in 1910 when the
Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) opened up land for irrigation. It is assumed that the CPR named the site, but this is not definitive. The post office was in operation fromJanuary 15 ,1910 toJune 27 ,1986 .References
