The Healesville Freeway is a proposed freeway in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

Planned route

Starting at Springvale Road in Vermont South, the freeway would head east intersecting EastLink with a full freeway junction, it will then head north east finally joining Mooroolbark Road, Lilydale.

The freeway was originally designated in the 1969 Melbourne Transportation Plan as part of the F9 Freeway corridor, extending past Springvale Road, joining Riversdale Road and winding through Glen Iris to join the current Citylink Freeway.

Orbital Route Connection Proposal

In "Transurban's Response to the Eddington Report", July 2008 [http://210.15.220.118/ewlna_submissions/EastWestResponse_150708_Transurban.pdf] . They propose a possible connection to complete an orbital route for metropolitan Melbourne. Using the existing Healesville Freeway corridor from Eastlink heading north-east to Maroondah Highway near Chirnside Park. From Maroondah Highway, the link could head north to meet with the high voltage transmission line and then west across the Yarra River to connect with the existing Greensborough bypass corridor at Diamond Creek. Assuming the section of Greensborough Highway (bypass) connecting to the Metropolitan Ring Road will be upgraded to Freeway standard.
