Notophthalmus is a genus of newts known commonly as North American newts. There are three species.

Species

• Black-Spotted Newt, Notophthalmus meridionalis (Cope, 1880)
• Striped Newt, Notophthalmus perstriatus (Bishop, 1941)
• Eastern Newt, Notophthalmus viridescens (Rafinesque, 1820)
