- Calaveras River
The Calaveras River is a
river in theCalifornia Central Valley . It flows roughly southwest for 80 miles from its headwaters in northeast Calaveras County to its confluence with theSan Joaquin River just west of the city of Stockton.New Hogan Lake is the onlylake on the river. It is formed by New Hogan Dam, which was completed in 1963. The dam was built by theUnited States Army Corps of Engineers , primarily forflood control. The dam also providesdrinking water , water forirrigation ,hydroelectricity andrecreation , includingfishing ,camping ,swimming andwater skiing .References
