History
As an independent village, Barton Hill is mentioned in the
Domesday Book as "Bertune apud Bristov", and later in 1220 as "Berton Bristoll". [Ekwall|29]Christ Church Barton Hill was opened in 1883 and demolished in 1957. A large geometrical gothic church without a west front but good rooks and a nice apse.
Cultural references
Space Rock bandAlien Stash Tin originated from Barton Hill and vocalist / guitarist Jon Wisbey still lives in the area. The regeneration of the area is also the inspiration behind the bands song 'Rat In A Maze'.References
