KQCK, channel 33, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is owned by Equity Media Holdings and is an affiliate of the ABC network. While the station's analog transmitter is located just west of Cheyenne, WY, the digital transmitter is located approximately 50 miles (80 km) south of Cheyenne just outside Fort Collins, Colorado.

History

On August 28 1987, KQCK signed on as KKTU, broadcasting as a satellite of Casper's KTWO-TV, at that time an NBC affiliate.

On September 1 2003, NBC moved their affiliation in Casper from KTWO to KCWY. Although KTWO temporarily became an independent station at that time in order to wait for the expiration of KFNB's ABC affiliation, KKTU was able to immediately switch from NBC to ABC, and began branding itself as ABC 8, after its position on the Cheyenne cable system.

On May 31 2005, KKTU changed its call sign to KDEV, with plans on expanding to the nearby Denver market.

On May 31 2006, Equity Broadcasting sold KTWO to Silverton Media. Equity retained ownership of KDEV, but signed a marketing agreement with Silverton to operate it as a satellite of KTWO. Equity later moved the ABC affiliation in Cheyenne to a low-powered repeater, KKTU-LP channel 40, and replaced ABC on KDEV with programming from their classic television network, the Retro Television Network.

By June 8 2008, KDEV had reverted to its previous ABC affiliation and ABC 8 branding, and had added Retro Jams on its DT2 subchannel. Nine days later, the station changed its call sign to KQCK.

Equipment failure forced the station to shut down its analog operations on June 27 2008, but the digital signal and cable carriage remain. Due to the cost of repairing the analog facilities, and the proximity of the end of the DTV transition, KQCK requested to end analog transmission altogether. Programming from the analog signal was moved to KDEV-LP in Cheyenne. KQCK's digital signal has not been available since the end of July 2008. It is unsure what may be causing this or if the FCC has been advised.

KDEV-LP

On October 4 2004 the station's call sign changed from K40HP to KKTU-LP. On June 24 2008 the station's call sign changed to KDEV-LP.
