North Grenville was established in January 1998 as a township in eastern
Ontario ,Canada , in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville on theRideau River . In 2005, a motion of Council adopted the designation of 'municipaity'. It is located just South of the City of Ottawa, Canada's National Capital Region.The largest community in North Grenville is Kemptville (with a 2001 population of 3,667 [ [http://www12.statcan.ca/english/profil01/CP01/Details/Page.cfm?Lang=E&Geo1=CSD&Code1=3507058&Geo2=PR&Code2=35&Data=Count&SearchText=kemptville&SearchType=Begins&SearchPR=01&B1=Population&Custom= Statistics Canada] ] ,). It is located on the Kemptville Creek (historically South Branch of the Rideau River) in close proximity to Ottawa, sitting midway between suburban Ottawa and the Prescott-Ogdensburg bridge on Highway 416.
