Operation Baobab Part of World War II, Operation Shingle Date 30 January, 1944 Location Pesaro and Fano, Italy Result British victory Belligerents United Kingdom Italy During World War II, Operation Baobab was a commando raid against an Italian railroad target by a small Special Air Service team.
The raiders were landed on 30 January 1944. They destroyed the critical bridge between Pesaro and Fano to support the Shingle landings at Anzio on 22 January.
