- Goldenrod Road Extension
The Goldenrod Road Extension is a
toll road in southeasternOrlando, Florida , United States, owned and operated by theOrlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA). It is a four-lanesurface road with severalat-grade intersection s. As a result, a toll (of 50 cents for two-axle vehicles) is required to drive only the section between State Road 528 andLee Vista Boulevard ; the rest can be driven without paying. The Extension runs from Cargo Road in
Orlando International Airport north toGoldenrod Road (State Road 551) north ofHoffner Avenue (State Road 15). It is not assigned astate road number, as it will be given to the City of Orlando once the cost of building the road is paid off. From the south end, at Cargo Road, Heintzelman Boulevard continues south around the east side of the airport, including two tunnels under
taxiway s. South of the airport terminals, it curves west to meet South Access Road, which runs from the airport south toBoggy Creek Road and State Road 417.A five-ramp
partial cloverleaf is at State Road 528. Northward is the barrier toll, and then the Extension intersects withLee Vista Boulevard andHoffner Avenue (State Road 15), with median breaks for several more intersections. Shortly after crossing Hoffner Avenue, the Extension ends atGoldenrod Road (State Road 551), which continues north. Despite SR 551 using the older Goldenrod Road to reach Hoffner Avenue, the main route between Hoffner Avenue and Goldenrod Road is via the Extension, and so it is signed TO SR 551 from Hoffner Avenue.Construction on the Extension began in 2001.
