River Ouse . In theDomesday Book of1086 the village was recorded as "Radeclive".The
civil parish is known as Radclive-cum-Chackmore and is withinAylesbury Vale district. It incorporates the separate hamlet ofChackmore .Radclive
parish church is dedicated toSt John the Evangelist . Parts of the building date to1200 though the tower is believed to be 100 years later. There are some rare early English benches decorated withpoppy heads, and a Jacobeancommunion rail with openwork balustrading. Thenave window contains some rare examples of14th century stained glass , which miraculously survived thereformation and theEnglish Civil War .The
