Journal of Evolution and Technology
- Journal of Evolution and Technology
The Journal of Evolution and Technology is a peer-reviewed, electronic, academic journal publishing contemporary research into future science and philosophy, published by the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies.
The journal's original name was the "Journal of Transhumanism"; it was subsequently renamed to its current title, to reflect a broader scope beyond transhumanism and appeal to more moderate, albeit, technoprogressive viewpoints.
The goal of the Journal is to bring technoprogessive thought and aspirations into the academic mainstream. That is, while specifically technoscientific in orientation, it has been criticized as being a movement of non-scientists in support of certain perceptions of what science should be, a position much alluded to by critics who claimed the movement was out of touch with academic opinion. "The Journal of Evolution and Technology", then, is an attempt by academic technoprogressives to draw new and challenging ideas into the realm of peer review to counter technoconservative publications, such as the "The New Atlantis".
