Mall History
* Old office buildings adjacent to the mall are being demolished to make way for a new shopping center that will feature a multiplex theater as well as several high end retailers.
* A second mall entrance was opened in 2006 which replaced aWalgreen's housed inside the mall since it's opening in 1974.
* The mall's main offices are located on a second floor above Macy's.
* A smallUnited Artist movie theater was operating within the mall until the early to mid 1980s before moving to a six theater building behind the mall property. A church now occupies the space, the theater closed up shop in 2000.
* The mall originally hosted nofood court but instead had restaurants scattered throughout the mall.
* Center court housed a large fountain and wishing well a couple hundred feet in size. The structure featured multiple geysers as well as a jogging path and was also used to stage special events, this feature was downsized in 1997 to accommodate more retail space and as an effort to conserve water usage.
* The originalGayfers location featured a lighted glass elevator that carried shoppers up to an eatery on the second floor of the department store that overlooked center court.
* All major anchors butJCPenney have second floors with escalators and elevators.
