Khowai is a town and a nagar panchayat in West Tripura district in the Indian state of Tripura. It is named after the Khowai river passing by the town. There is an airport near the town.

Geography

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Khowai had a population of 17,621. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Khowai has an average literacy rate of 86%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 88%, and female literacy is 85%. In Khowai, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
