James Madison High School is a high school located in unincorporated Fairfax County, Virginia, adjacent to the town limits of Vienna, and is part of Fairfax County Public Schools. Oakton High School is James Madison High School's main rival, although other rivals include Langley High School in McLean and Marshall High School. Its mascot is the warhawk (ironically, James Madison was not a "warhawk"; he was opposed to the War of 1812) and its colors are black and red. The symbol for warhawk is similar to that f the National Football League's Atlanta Falcons. According to "Newsweek" Magazine's 2007 list of the top US high schools, Madison was ranked 123.

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,911 students and 129.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 14.8. James Madison High School continually surpasses most Virginia schools in statewide and nationwide exams. Athletics

James Madison's sports teams play in the AAA Liberty District and AAA Northern Region. Their traditional rival schools include nearby schools Oakton, Langley, and Marshall.

In the late summer/early fall of 2007, James Madison High School won the Outback Bowl against rival school Oakton High School. This was the first time in at least three years that Madison won. This was the kickoff of a seven-game winning streak in fall of 2007. The football team's final record for the regular season was 8 wins and 2 losses.
