Caribbean islands ofDominica andSaint Kitts . The School of Medicine was founded in1978 on Dominica, and the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982 in St. Kitts. The school offers bothDoctor of Medicine andDoctor of Veterinary Medicine degree programs. Both schools are supported by administrative offices located inNorth Brunswick, New Jersey .Ross University has over 9,000 alumni with
M.D. andD.V.M. degrees. School of Medicine
Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), founded in
1978 , is located on theCaribbean island ofDominica . The School of Medicine enrolls classes three times a year: January, May, and September. Students complete their didactic education on the island in four semesters and upon successful completion, students move onto a pre-clinical fifth semester in the United States. After completing the 5th semester, students sit for theUSMLE Step 1 exam, and then continue on inclinical clerkships at hospitals throughout theUnited States . Upon completion of the curriculum, similar to that of US medical schools, students must pass theUSMLE Step 2 CS andUSMLE Step 2 CK , prior to graduation. RUSM is accredited through the Dominica Board of Medical Education to conferDoctor of Medicine degrees, and is listed with theECFMG .The Medical Sciences training program is delivered over four calendar years. The pre-clinical curriculum is covered over the first four semesters (16 months) in Dominica. During the last two years, which cover the clinical sciences, students move on to study at the university's affiliated hospitals in the United States. *Semesters 3 and 4:Microbiology andImmunology I & II,Pathology I & II, MedicalPharmacology I & II, Introduction to Clinical Medicine,Behavioral Sciences Years 3 and 4: Clinical Sciences
*Semester 5: Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine in Miami, Florida (or Princess Margaret Hospital in Roseau, Dominica, if students choose to stay on the island for Semester 5).
*Semesters 6 - 10: Rotation through teaching hospitals in the U.S. that are affiliated with Ross University School of Medicine. There are 48 weeks of clinical core clerkships and 30 weeks of electives. The core clerkships are in medicine, surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and psychiatry.Ross University currently does not calculate GPA's using all of the accrued hours for its students.
School of Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) is located on the island ofSt. Kitts .
