"Bombers" is a song written by David Bowie. It was recorded in 1970 and intended for the album "Hunky Dory", but was replaced at the last minute by the cover "Fill Your Heart".Nicholas Pegg (2000). "The Complete David Bowie": p.77] The song was recorded at the same sessions as "Conversation Piece".

It was released as a promo single by RCA in the US in November 1971, backed by a remix of "Eight Line Poem" that can only be found on this single. A bootleg version backing "London Bye Ta-Ta" was also released in the early 1970s. [Roy Carr & Charles Shaar Murray (1981). "Bowie: An Illustrated Record": p.116] The track was eventually given wide release as a bonus track on the Rykodisc reissue of "Hunky Dory" in 1990.
